Can someone tell me why does killing Ardyn end the Scourge?
They never say that Ardyn embodies the source of the scourge…just that he’s full of daemons. Ardyn didn’t create the scourge or even spread it, all he did was show Niflheim how to use daemon energy to make MTs.
ok, buckle up because I have a long text to write (maybe, unless I just end up being more precise) I’m gonna clear one doubt/misconception at a time.
1) Why does killing Ardyn end the Scourge
Ok, first of all, it does not. Noctis making the sacrifice is what ends with the scourge. Killing Ardyn was something that happened mostly as a pieced revenge and duel since it was HIM that took most of Noctis personal beloveds (his father, the city, Luna, made noct push promto off the train, killed ravus, etc.). Per prophecy communicated once and again from gentiana to the oracles and kings of lucis, once the “true king of light” had arisen, his sacrifice would once and for all banish the scourge off the land.
2) Ardyn didn’t create
the scourge or even spread it, all he did was show Niflheim how to use daemon energy to make MTs.
two answres: no and yes. No, he did not create the scourge indeed. YES, HE DID STARTED SPREADING IT, particularly in niffleheim. The entire thing of “showing the niffs how to harness daemon power to create magitek” was an entire act, to catch the whole empire with the guard down as the scource started to spread quickly and getting out of control. during the time Noctis spends in the citadel, particularly on teh research labs, there are tons of archives and papers that describe the scourge manner of spreading. People started vanishing once there was a breach, and quickly the daemons started to multiply. It was soon after that the scourge spread thru Niffleheim like a wildfire without control.
Now about Ardyn embodying the scourge which is another topic: is not that he embodies it, but that there were so many daemons inside him that twisted his soul and mind that he obtained unnintentional immortality, along the betrayal of the people he saved back in the past and the rejection of the crystal from ascending, that left him really really SALTY with his family (the lucii). He is no longer human, dead, alive or a daemon but something in between all and he has shown to pretty much do ANYTHING (this includes spreading the scourge from scratch from himself) to end with the house of lucis royal family and attain his own ascension into the realm of light.
